Soothing the Soul

I’ve been getting a little bogged down by too much information lately, and I read some beautiful quotes while in the chapel and then sharing with a friend. Here are some that hopefully will refresh your heart.

  1. You must really love the St. Julian one because you wrote it twice in a row. LOL! 🙂 I love the St. Faustina one about not becoming despondent — something I was struggling with because of the news. Am I the only person who had to deactivate my facebook account because of all the depressing “trending” news on the right? I couldn’t even log in without reading about some accidental shooting or some violent event. I feel like I need to put myself in some sort of protective bubble where there is just me, my family, my closest friends, and your nice uplifting quotes. IS THIS POSSIBLE? Please say yes, and then explain how. 🙂

    1. I use my smart phone and I don’t see it. 😀 Cheat! LOL. My opinion? Here goes: Yeah our brains aren’t designed for this much. And YES! it is possible. But we all need some area to reach out, too. Our brains aren’t made for everything that we are exposed to now. It causes anxiety. But at the same time we all need to make some sacrifice to make a difference whatever that may be. Not EVERYTHING. Just one thing. Or two. Something reasonable. It takes some discernment to find the right amount. I’m a big fan of living in villages, helping our neighbors, and not knowing anything else. I think some bubbling is very very very healthy. And you want to raise children without a sense of panic yes? That matters most. The village thing may not work: I might need a Tardis for that. But there are other ways. That One Thing post addresses it, and I’ll write more tomorrow. 🙂

      1. Speaking of villages, did you see the article floating around facebook last week about the group of close friends who all built small living spaces, right next to each other, in the middle of nowhere? I thought it was a really cool idea.

      2. Wonderful idea! I’d love to live in a little village and write and spend time with neighbors. I’ve always wanted this. PS… I edited and added a Star Trek element to today’s blog. Oh yes I did.
